일련의 탑뷰 시리즈는 하늘에서 내려다 본 시각으로, 현대 이전의 시대에는 상상을 통해서만 보고 그릴 수 있었던 시점 이였지만, 인간이 항공기를 통해 비행할 수 있게 되면서 정확한 실측의 평면도를 직시 할 수 있게 되었다. 나는 한동안 생계를 위해 작가와 조경디자이너 일을 병행 하는 동안, 건설기업의 대형 프로젝트에 마스터플래너로 참여 했는데, 실측의 대지에 환경 영향평가와 스토리텔링을 분석하여, 도로를 만들고 각 장소의 유래에 걸맞는 조경 아이템을 적용하거나 사람들이 머물며 힐링 할 수 있는 공간을 디자인하면서, 탑뷰를 통해 A와 B, C 등 다른 공간의 유기적인 네트웍과 합리적인 상관관계에 대해, 정교한 메카니즘이 작용한다는 사실을 깨닫게 되었다. 기존의 조감뷰(Bird’s eye view)나 도시풍경(Cityscape)에서는 개인과 사회의 유기적인 관계성, 영향성, 체계를 관조하는 시각을 표현했다면, 근간의 시리즈를 통해 설계도면과 흡사한 탑뷰(Topview)의 원초성(Prototype)을 도입함으로, 인간과 자연의 시스템 본질을 탐구하는데 조금 더 근접하여, 대지 위에서 시간차를 두고 숙성해 가는 농작물의 색 차이를, 스퀴즈(Squeeze)도구로 물감을 밀어내어 우연성을 존중하는 방식으로 표현하거나, 일상에서 쉽게 접하는 슬로건, 세계관, 희망의 단어들을 읊조리듯 화면 위에 드로잉 하면서, 거대풍경의 서사 안에 작업자(나) 일상의 감정, 경험, 추억과 의미 있는 사연을 스토리 텔링 하듯 조합 하였다. 시스템에 관한 이야기를 이전에는 기계적 메커니즘을 통해 상징화 하거나 자동차, 레이싱카를 통해 은유적으로 표현했었는데, 2019 개인전, 정교한 생태계의 보고인 우포늪을 드론촬영 하고 이를 자료로 화폭에 옮기던 작업을 거치면서, 자연의 시스템이 얼마나 섬세한 균형과 시스템을 유지하고 있는지에 대해 고찰 한 바 있었다. 다윈의 진화론에 의하면, 모든 생물의 진화가 필요에 따른 발전 형태가 아니라, 크고 작은 돌연변이들이 적자생존하며 끊임없는 상호작용으로 우월유전자를 생산해온 사실을 알 수 있는데, 고도의 지적 유기체인 인간의 탄생과 진화 또한 우연성의 반복에 의해 매우 작은 확률의 기적이 이루어낸 진행형인 것이다. 여기에서 일련의 스퀴즈 작업들은, 자연과 인공시스템의 우연성을 존중함으로, 회화에 있어서의 우연성, 우발성과 상통함을 발견하였고 이는, 개인과 사회, 개인과 개인 상호간의 유기성, 관계성에 있어서도 똑 같이 적용됨을 묵시적으로 표현 하려 한다. 곧 탑뷰의 원초적 설계도 개념과, 자연과 인간의 시스템, 관계도, 네트웍과 그 메커니즘의 우연성까지, 미시와 거시를 통해 상징화하거나, 개인사의 트라우마와 희망, 추상적인 비전에 대하여 자동기술법의 관념성과 융합하는 작업을 지향하고 있다.
A series of Top View series was a view from the sky, and in the pre-modern era, it was only possible to see and draw through imagination, but as humans became able to fly through aircraft, they became able to face the exact floor plan. While working as an artist and landscape designer for a living, I participated as a master planner in a large project of a construction company, analyzing environmental impact assessment and storytelling to create roads, applying landscaping items suitable for each place's origin, and designing spaces for people to stay and heal. If the existing Bird's eye view or Cityscape expresses a view of the organic relationship, influence, and system between individuals and society, the basic series introduces Topview's Prototype, which is similar to the design drawing, Memories and meaningful stories were combined as if they were storytelling. Previously, the story of the system was symbolized through mechanical mechanisms or metaphorically expressed through cars and racing cars, and through the 2019 individual exhibition, drone shooting of Upo Wetland, a treasure trove of sophisticated ecosystems, and transferring it to the canvas, we considered how delicate the natural system maintains. Darwin's theory of evolution shows that the evolution of all living things is not a necessary form of development, but that large and small mutations survive in the fittest and produce superior genes through constant interaction. By respecting the coincidence of nature and the artificial system, a series of squeeze tasks here found coincidence, contingency, and similarity in painting, implicitly expressing that it is applied equally to individual and society, and to the organicity and relationship between individuals. In other words, it aims to symbolize the concept of the original design of Top View, the system, relationship between nature and humans, the network, and the coincidence of its mechanism through micro and macro, or to integrate the trauma, hope, and abstract vision of personal history with the ideology of automatic technology.
