‘왕의 정원' 시리즈는 경주 남산 솔밭의 소나무를 배경으로 한 작품이다. 작품안에 소나무의 고결함과 신비함을 담아내기 위해 솔밭의 우거진 정원을 푸른색의 단색화로 표현한다. 이와 더불어 소나무의 사실적 질감과 그들의 껍질의 중후함을 드러내기 위해 켄버스 위에 물감을 나이프로 중첩되게 올리는 기법을 사용한다. 소나무의 연령은 껍질의 두께로 알 수 있다 한다. 그 오랜 역사와 함께 영원성의 기원을 표현하기 위해 겹과 결을 쌓아 올리는 수행과 같은 행위를 반복적으로 행한다. 경주 남산을 사생하면서 특히 이른 아침의 수려한 풍경은 하루 중 가장 아름다운 순간의 감동을 전해준다. 이런 아침의 아름다운 순간을 포착한 작품이 많다. 우리나라의 많은 산에서 소나무를 볼 수 있지만 경주의 소나무는 다른 지역의 소나무보다 나의 가슴에 깊은 감동을 준다. 그것은 옛 왕들의 영혼과 함께 천년의 세월을 지켜온 고결한 숨결이 함께 하기 때문일거라 생각든다. 천년 세월의 고귀함이 오롯이 담긴 푸른 소나무 숲 작품과의 만남으로 지친 현대인들의 삶을 도닥이고 위로와 치유의 시간을 나누고 싶다. - 강대진 작가노트

In order to capture the integrity and mystery of pine trees in the work, the lush garden of the pine field is expressed in a blue monochromatic painting. In addition, to reveal the realistic texture of pine trees and the heaviness of their shells, a technique of putting paint over Kenbus with a knife is used. It is said that the age of a pine tree is determined by the thickness of its shell. Along with its long history, acts such as stacking layers and grains are repeatedly performed to express the origin of eternity. While drawing Namsan Mountain in Gyeongju, the beautiful scenery in the early morning conveys the most beautiful moment of the day. There are many works that capture such a beautiful moment in the morning. You can see pine trees in many mountains in our country, but the pine trees in Gyeongju deeply touch my heart more than pine trees in other regions. I think it is because it is accompanied by the souls of the old kings and the noble breath that has kept them for a thousand years.
